Emergency Dental Care
Nobody can predict an event of a dental emergency; it can happen very suddenly. You might end up waking up with swelling and pain in one of your teeth, or you might trip down the stairs and break a tooth; these are just a few scenarios for dental emergencies. The first thing people do is run to the Emergency Room, where they usually get a pain killer or antibiotics, but this is not enough. Most ERs are not that well equipped to deal with dental emergencies and hence suggest that you go see an emergency dentist as soon as you can. Just to hear this, you would be expected to pay a small fee for this advice.
Instead, what you can do is call up our dental office and come in quickly so that we can propose the right treatment plan for you, prescribe you the right medications, and start with the treatment to help relieve you from the pain and swelling. This would help to save you time and money.
Dental Trauma

Common Dental Emergencies
What are the most common causes for dental emergencies to occur? They do not happen overnight; the damage starts to occur way before that.
Sudden Tooth Pain
Tooth pain cannot just start randomly; there has to be an underlying cause for it. However, whatever the cause, you must never ignore tooth pain and you must make an emergency dentist visit. Some of the causes of tooth pain are:
- Cavities that have gone too deep
- Gum disease
- Formation of an abscess
- Exposure of roots
- Impacted tooth (such as your wisdom tooth)
We can treat all the above-mentioned conditions and a lot of others, to help prevent the infection from spreading further.
Chipped or Fractured Tooth
Sudden trauma to the teeth can cause the teeth to chip, crack or fracture. This is even possible if you bite down on a hard object. Sometimes, there must be a cavity forming, which you might not have been aware of, causes the tooth to become weak, causing it to break or fracture. If you have your broken piece of tooth saved, you can bring it to us during your visit.
Lost Teeth
You can lose teeth due to an injury or no apparent reason; whatever the case may be, this is a dental emergency. In some cases, it might be possible for us to replace the tooth right back into the socket, only if you reach the office within a certain amount of time. If this is not possible, then other tooth replacement options are considered, such as a bridge or implant.
When a tooth comes out of the socket, in an attempt to save the tooth, you must quickly rinse the tooth with lukewarm water, avoiding the root area. Then, you can place the tooth back into the socket, without applying any excessive force. If you fail at this, just place the tooth in a glass of milk and call our office right away.
