Crowns & Bridges

Crowns Bridges

Dental crowns protect and restore treated and compromised teeth, whereas a dental bridge helps to replace missing teeth

Crowns and Bridges

We use dental crowns and bridges to protect heavily filled or root canal-treated teeth. A root canal treated tooth becomes too brittle after the treatment and must be protected by placing a crown on top of it. Visit our clinic for a consultation so that our expert dentists can propose the best possible treatment plan for you. Our perfectly crafted dental crowns and bridges help to restore your ability to chew and speak, without anybody finding out that’s how natural-looking our crowns are!

What is a dental crown?

A dental crown covers a tooth entirely; up to the gums. Its purpose is to mimic the tooth structure, and therefore, is made to look exactly like one. Dental crowns are made from various materials, such as porcelain, metal, zirconium, and porcelain fused to metal. In patients with a higher chewing force, metallic crowns are generally recommended as they can withstand a higher amount of force. For anterior teeth, mostly zirconium crowns are preferred, due to their best aesthetic properties. With proper care, crowns can last you a lifetime!

What to expect when getting a dental crown?

  1. Examination and consultation to prepare the best-suited treatment plan.
  2. Insurance coverage eligibility is determined
  3. Appointment scheduled for crown cutting and impression for the fabrication of the crown.
  4. The model is poured and sent to the lab for the fabrication of the crown. This may take up to 2 weeks. Meanwhile, your tooth will be covered with a temporary crown.
  5. After 2 weeks, you will be called in for the trial of the crown. If any adjustments are required, the dentist will make them.
  6. Once you are satisfied with your crown, it will be cemented with permanent cement on top of the tooth.
  7. All post crown tips and instructions are provided to help prevent the accumulation of plaque around the gum margin. Regular cleanings after 6 months are encouraged.

Replacing a missing tooth with a bridge

When two or more crowns are fused it is referred to as a bridge. A 3-unit bridge can be used to replace a missing tooth, provided that there are healthy teeth present on both sides of the missing tooth.

Is a dental bridge right for me?

After a thorough evaluation, Dr. Zoya Zamir will determine whether you would be the ideal candidate for a dental bridge or not.

Typically, a bridge is generally referred to for the following cases:

  • The presence of healthy teeth on either side of the missing tooth
  • Requiring support for facial features
  • Prevent drifting of teeth into empty teeth
  • Restoration of teeth for a natural bite for chewing
  • Tooth preservation for normal speech

The Process of Getting A Dental Bridge

Dr. Zamir will discuss the best possible treatment plan for you that will fulfill your requirements. After the initial consultation and evaluation process, the process of a bridge installation just requires a few office visits only. In the first appointment, the healthy teeth on the sides of the missing tooth are prepared by trimming the tooth. Then, the impression is taken and sent to the lab for the fabrication of the bridge. This ensures that the custom-made bridge sits perfectly on the prepared teeth. At the time of the second visit, the bridge is seated on the prepared teeth, causing the space to be filled.
