Restoring Decayed Teeth with Tooth-Colored Filling Material
The shiny silver filling, known as Amalgam, is not aesthetically pleasing. They are very noticeable when you smile..
We offer tooth-colored composite filling material, that is placed in the cavity in increments, with each increment being cured by UV light. This helps the filling material to become hard and set. Being a tooth-colored material is the biggest advantage as the aesthetics are not compromised.
Composite Fillings vs. amalgam fillings
- Composite fillings require less removal of healthy tooth structure during cavity preparation, helping to preserve the normal tooth structure.
Composite fillings are not temperature sensitive. They do not expand or shrink when subjected to extreme temperatures.
Composite fillings can be used in restoring the shape of chipped teeth.
Building The Core Of A Tooth After A Root Canal Treatment (RCT)
After the infected pulp has been removed and the roots have been filled, the bulk of the tooth is filled with a filling material. For this, either Composite or Glass Ionomer Cement (GIC) is used. GIC is a white-colored filling material that leaches out fluoride over time.
Process of Filling A Cavity With Composite
- If the cavity is too deep, the dentist will numb the area by injecting local anesthesia and then remove the decay to create a cavity.
- The tooth structure is etched with phosphoric acid to help make the tooth structure rough. Composite adheres better to rough surfaces.
- Composite comes in various shades providing you with the most natural-looking finish.
- After the cavity has been filled, minor adjustments are made to help adjust the bite, and then it is polished to provide a smoother finish.
- For larger cavities, fillings can be done indirectly. The filling material is placed inside the cavity, removed, and then cured and placed inside the cavity.
